Formative is our new Assessment Platform and we will be using this tool to deliver End of Course Exams, but more importantly we are creating item banks within Formative to be used throughout the school year to impact student learning.

English Language Proficiency Assessment of California (ELPAC)
February 2 – May 29
This summative assessment for all English Learners is designed to monitor language development for the purpose of reclassification as Fluent English Learner along with other academic measures. The Research and Evaluation team, and the site testing team will share the responsibility of conducting the Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing sections of this exam.

February 24 - June 5
Students in grades 7, 8 and 11 will take the English Language Arts and Math Smarter Balanced assessments. Students in grades 8 and 12 (if they have not taken it in grades 10 or 11) will take the Science Smarter Balanced.
End of Course Exams
Fall – December 15-19
Spring – May 26 – June 5
8th graders and Seniors – May 26-29
End of Course exams have been constantly revised and modified based on feedback. Beginning Spring 2026 all courses on this list are required to administer the District End of Course exams. Results should be used minimally as a factor in student grades as there are unique challenges to validity and reliability that mitigate using these results as a significant portion of student grades.
Common Formative Assessments
The work of creating daily, weekly, and other periodic assessments such as Short Constructed Responses, exit tickets, etc. is the responsibility of site PLCs. Indeed, there is overwhelming evidence that embedded formative assessments is one of the strongest tools available to improve instruction and enhance student learning.
