Research Requests

Research in the SUHSD

The Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) welcomes research that would benefit the teaching and learning for the students of the SUHSD and is in agreement with our current Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Goals.

Research may be conducted provided it meets the following criteria:

  1. The perceived results of the research effort would be of direct and significant benefit to the students and instructional programs of the district.
  2. The research design has been presented to and approved by the superintendent or his/her designee and all research instruments, including but not limited to questionnaires, surveys, and interview forms, have been submitted to and approved by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
  3. No test, questionnaire, survey, or examination containing any questions about the student's personal beliefs or practices in sex, family life, morality, and religion, or any question about the student parents' or guardians' beliefs and practices in sex, family life, morality, and religion, shall be administered unless the parent or guardian of the student is notified in writing that the test, questionnaire, survey or examination is to be administered and gives written permission, survey, or examination. 
  4. A copy of the final research result, including analysis and conclusions, shall be presented to the Superintendent. 
  5. The Board shall have the right to refuse publication rights if it believes that the research was not carried out according to the highest standards of research, that the analysis and/or conclusions presented a biased or incorrect position, or that the research was not carried out according to the approved research design.

The process for submitting a request for research is as follows:

1) Submit an application via the Research Request Application.  

2) The request will be reviewed by Dr. Ulloa, Director of Innovation and Pathways Development. Depending on the request, it might include the review of additional district leadership and/or SUHSD Legal department.

3) You will receive a response within 14 days of your request.

Note: If this request is approved, final authority to conduct a research proposal rests with the site administrator where the research is to be conducted.  The pertinent Board Policy and Administrative Regulation can be found on the following link:
